This novel brings back Max & T.G. Schaffer and Chase & Shannon Westmore as well as NASCAR history at The Rock in Rockingham, N.C. The protagonist is a dance instructor named Megan Garrison. The first time she realizes that there's someone stalking her, is the third consecutive night she has heard the echo of footsteps following her; she steps into the building's shadow to see who is coming up behind her. She can tell it's a man because of his build and height but he is wearing a baseball cap pulled low on his face and in the shadows of early twilight she cannot identify him. Megan comes into contact with a race driver named Ryan Anderson who is determined to win her affection; thus the struggle begins with the Schaffers and the Westmores trying to arrange a romance; Megan fights her growing attraction to Ryan but they come together as a turbulent couple struggling to control the evident passion between them as they try to catch a vicious killer who has already murdered one woman on the main street in Hamlet in front of a new bar called the Sports Connection and he has now set his sights on Megan as his next victim. Ryan tries to protect her but it's difficult to ward off violence when the unknown catalyst is so determined to take the life of a pretty, successful young woman.

"A curated collection of the New York Times' travel column, "Footsteps," exploring classic authors' relationships to landmarks and cities around the world Before The Sun Also Rises, Ernest Hemingway roamed the streets of Madrid, eager for the heady scent of blood emanating from the nearby bullrings. Before spunky, red-headed Anne Shirley stole readers' hearts in Anne of Green Gables, L.M. Montgomery was captivated by the sunset sky of Prince Edward Island. And before readers were terrified by a tentacled dragon-man called Cthulhu, H.P. Lovecraft was enthralled by the Industrial Trust tower-- the 26-story skyscraper that makes up the skyline of Providence, Rhode Island. Based on the popular New York Times travel column, Footsteps is an anthology of literary pilgrimages, exploring the geographic muses behind some of history's greatest writers. From the "dangerous, dirty and seductive" streets of Naples, the setting for Elena Ferrante's famous Neapolitan novels, to the "stone arches, creaky oaken doors, and riverside paths" of Oxford, the backdrop for Alice's adventures in Wonderland, Footsteps takes a fresh approach to literary tourism, appealing to readers and travel enthusiasts alike"--

NOW A LIFETIME MOVIE CHANNEL DOCUMENTARY It was a shocking true crime that left two families shattered, and became the coldest case in U.S. history. Who really killed little Maria? The question fueled a real-life nightmare in Sycamore, Illinois... 1957. Sycamore, Illinois. Christmas was three weeks away, and seven-year-old Maria Ridulph went out to play. Soon after, a figure emerged out of the falling snow. He was very friendly. Minutes later, Maria vanished, leaving behind an abandoned doll and footsteps in the snow. In April, a spring thaw gave up Maria’s body in a nearby wooded area. The case attracted national attention, including that of the FBI and President Eisenhower. In all, seventy-four men and three women fell under suspicion. But no one was ever charged with the crime. Incredibly, fifty-five years later, the coldest case in the history of American jurisprudence would be reopened. It happened after a seventy-four-year-old former neighbor of the Ridulphs named Eileen Tessier made a stunning deathbed confession to her family about a dark past, and a darker secret they knew nothing about. Two families would be joined by despair and retribution, and in an astounding turn of events, Maria Ridulph’s killer would finally be brought to justice. INCLUDES PHOTOGRAPHS
